Ways we can support your public-facing scholarship:

  • Schedule a one-on-one meeting to brainstorm ideas for translating your scholarship for non-expert audiences.

  • Book proposals: Book proposals can feel like their own genre. We can give concrete suggestions and feedback for putting your best foot forward.

  • Have a book coming out? We can help organize a launch event; identify excerpts for potential publication; provide preliminary support for book tours; identify interview opportunities; provide printed materials like posters, bookmarks, postcards or other ephemera; and more.

  • Are you close to finishing your book but struggling to click “submit”? We can provide concrete steps to get you across the finish line.

  • Pitch like a pro: Never pitched to a general audience publication before? No problem. We can help with drafting pitches, editor introductions or even submit a pitch on your behalf.

  • Write for The Conversation: Writing for The Conversation can help you reach new audiences, expand the reach of your research and lead to additional public scholarship opportunities.

  • Event co-sponsorship: Bringing an outside speaker to campus who’s engaged in public scholarship? Contact us about co-sponsorship.

  • Media training: Have you received a request to be interviewed for TV, radio or print? We can help you prepare.

  • Fellowship and grant applications: If you’re applying grant or fellowship with a public-facing component, we can read proposal drafts and provide feedback.

  • Mentored Professional Experience (MPE): Graduate students seeking to gain public scholarship skills and experience can undertake a mentored professional experience (MPE) in PPS.
